Registration is now open for Sweet Broom and Bitter Bush, Caribbean Yard Campus’ course in the science of traditional medicine.

Ancestral knowledges are generally disregarded within Caribbean academies of learning. Yet, as in other civilizations, such knowledges are the foundation of a science that can treat holistically with problems of ecological and human health, even those confronting the world today. This course explores the remedies that exist within the average Caribbean yard, bush-patch or forest. Participants will learn the names of common plants, their properties and uses in the practice of Caribbean traditional medicines, as well as in Western science. In joining us, you’ll benefit from the regional location and deep knowledge of our team of facilitators in Barbados, Belize and Trinidad and Tobago.

Classes are on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. between September 16 and December 6, 2025.
