Overview

The Earth to Sky Mas Design Certificate Programme prepares participants for the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in Masquerade Design and Production, Level 2. At this level, students develop the skills and competencies of a Skilled Worker in the field of mas.

This course combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary creativity, providing participants with a deep understanding of Carnival arts from concept to performance. Emphasis is placed on the continuity of traditional mas-making practices, along with the creativity of individual expression and innovation.

By the end of the programme, participants will have gained:

  • The knowledge and skills to design and construct a complete Carnival costume.

  • The understanding and values to apply these skills in cultural and industrial contexts.

  • The basic tools for entrepreneurship within the cultural and creative industries.

There are no prerequisites or prior learning requirements, and all materials and tools are provided.

Format

This course is delivered primarily as a practical learning experience. Workshops, though virtual, are hands-on.
