Nou Ka Palé Patwa
Caribbean identity reflects itself in our linguistic fertility. In sharing our languages, we reject mono-lingual domination and expand a community free of ‘barriers’ to self-recognition and our relatives in the region. ‘Nou Ka Pale Patwa’ introduces Trinidad Patwa as a conversational experience in the learning of Trinidad and other Caribbean Kwéyòl languages. Drawing on the heritage and practices of Kwéyòl cultures, this course includes a wide range of materials and activities, including games, stories, folk songs, calypsos and live conversations with elders of these communities. The course is accessible to persons wishing to learn Patwa, as well as those already familiar with the language.
Classes are on Mondays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. between April 10 and June 19, 2023.
